# Pharmacy regulation in Alberta

The Alberta College of Pharmacy, the public drug programs Alberta Blue Cross administers, and what PharmFlow does and does not do in Alberta.

## Pharmacy regulator

**Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).** The College's public register is a per-name search behind a captcha, with no bulk export. PharmFlow does not carry ACP register data.

## Public drug plan

**Alberta government drug programs.** Alberta Blue Cross administers the province's public drug programs, including seniors and palliative coverage. Alberta Blue Cross is also a carrier in PharmFlow's insurance carrier table.

## Health number

**Alberta Personal Health Number (PHN).** PharmFlow's patient identifier table includes the Alberta PHN. It encodes no check-digit rule for it.

## Physician register

**College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).** CPSA publishes an alphabetical list of actively licensed physicians as a PDF. PharmFlow's provider reference data is built from that list.

## What PharmFlow does not do in Alberta

- Insurance claims adjudication is not shipped. PharmFlow does not submit claims to provincial or private payers.
- No Alberta Netcare or EHR integration. Alberta-specific prescription status management is not supported.
- The ACP pharmacy register is search-only, so PharmFlow's pharmacy reference data does not include Alberta pharmacies.
